What is the cost of lying to your child?

Have you ever lied about your child’s age to receive a discounted or free admission into a movie, museum, or at an amusement park? How about when boarding a city bus? While you may feel that your fib is justified, the impact of lying in front of your child is not worth the savings.

How can we conceivably preach to our children about lying and stress the importance of honesty one minute, only to completely destroy our credibility to save a few bucks the next? These are the kind of lessons that are invaluable and require that you take a moment to think about what you are teaching the future generation.

Broken down annually, the savings you will accumulate lying about your child’s age may add up to $100 or so, depending how often you go out or take the bus. Isn’t your child’s integrity worth that much?
